The blog carnival is called “I Instagram, you too?”, after the famous photo app for the iPhone, but fortunately Android users may also participate.
Now that smartphones have such good cameras and all kinds of fun photo editing apps are available for it, the phone is the ideal way to make nice pictures and upload them in order to show where you are or what you are doing. Or you can use it as an alternative way to make great pictures than with your regular camera.
I use it both ways.
The picture above I have made with the app Pixlr-o-Matic. The sun shines just over the roof of our house. I held the camera so that you can see the sunrays coming over the roof. I usually make photos with the built-in camera and afterwards I open it in an editor, this time Pixlr-o-matic. I have given the photo a metallic effect and a frame. I think the is nice.
The handy thing about the mobile phone is that you always carry it with you and so you can take pictures whenever you see something nice.
The second photo was taken in a modern building and was edited by converting it to black and white and ginving it a drawing effect with the app Picplz.
The third picture is a beautiful facade of a house in Blokzijl. I have a given it a sepia effect with the app Vignette.
It is very difficult to make a selection of photos for this blog carnival. I opted for a varied selection of photos I think are a success.
The great thing I think is that with the photo editing apps you will get very different results from photo editing on the PC. At least I can certainly not reproduce these effects on the PC. The phone is easy with pre-programmed effects, but the result is the consequence of the choices you made when shooting and editing. In this sense, the end result is definitely a personal thing. Everyone takes pictures in his own way and in his own style.
To stimulate myself to develop my own style and make better mobile photos I want to start a 365 days project on my mobile photoblog Fototumblr. Making one photo everyday. Januari, 1 is a good day to start with that project.

Nu heet de blogkermis “Ik Instagram, jij ook?, naar de bekende photo app voor de iPhone, maar gelukkig mogen ook Android-gebruikers meedoen.
Nu er op smartphones zulke goede camera’s zitten en er allerlei leuke fotobewerkingsapps voor beschikbaar zijn is de telefoon ideaal om onderweg leuke foto’s te maken en meteen te uploaden om zo te laten zien waar je bent of wat je aan het doen bent. Of je kunt het gebruiken als een andere manier om leuke foto’s te maken dan met je gewone camera.
Ik gebruik het op beide manieren.
De bovenste foto heb ik gemaakt met de app Pixlr-o-Matic. De zon schijnt net over het dak van ons huis. Ik heb de camera zo gehouden dat je de zonnestralen over het dak ziet komen. Meestal maak ik de foto’s met de standaard camera van de telefoon en pas daarna open ik hem in een bewerkingsprogramma, deze keer dus Pixlr-o-matic. Ik heb er een metallic effect aan gegeven en een frame erom. Ik vind hem wel geslaagd.
Het handige van de mobiele telefoon is dat je hem altijd bij je hebt en je dus foto’s kunt maken wanneer je iets leuks ziet.
De tweede foto is gemaakt in het Martini Ziekenhuis in Groningen en is bewerkt door hem naar zwart-wit om te zetten en een tekening-effect mee te geven met de app Picplz.
De derde foto is een mooie gevel van een huis in Blokzijl. Ik heb het een sepia effect gegeven met de app Vignette.
Het is erg lastig om een selectie te maken van foto’s voor deze blogkermis. Ik heb gekozen voor een gevarieerde selectie van foto’s die ik geslaagd vind. Het leuke vind ik dat je met de fotobewerkings apps heel andere resultaten krijgt dan met fotobewerking op de PC. Ik kan dit in ieder geval niet nadoen op de PC. Op de telefoon gaat het makkelijk met voorgeprogrammeerde effecten, maar het resultaat is wel het gevolg van de keuzes die jij hebt gemaakt bij het fotograferen en het bewerken. In die zin is het eindresultaat zeker een persoonlijk iets. Iedereen maakt foto’s op zijn eigen manier en in zijn eigen stijl.
Om mezelf te stimuleren een eigen stijl te ontwikkelen en betere mobiele foto’s te maken wil ik een 365 dagen project starten op mijn mobiele fotoblog Fototumblr. Elke dag een foto maken en plaatsen. 1 januari is een mooie dag om daarmee te beginnen.
